Dr. Mary Michal has welcomed Starfish Health into the Michal Child Development Center in Johnson City to begin serving children immediately providing access to Child and Adolescent Psychiatry with Dr. Jana Dreyzehner.
Starfish Begins
A rough storm one night left many starfish strewn across miles of a sandy beach. The next morning a child walking along the shore stopped every few feet to pick up a stranded starfish and fling it back into the safety of the sea.
An old man watching the child finally asked, "Why bother, son. How will saving a few when there's so many doomed starfish possibly make a difference?"
With that the child picked up another starfish and looked at it intently. Then, gently tossing it out to sea, he turned to the old man and said,
"I made a difference for that one." ~ Author Unknown
The Rest of the Story……..
The old man watched a bit longer, deep in thought, as the child continued to toss starfish back into the sea. He then felt moved to help the boy toss starfish, and the more that he tossed back in, the less overwhelming the task at hand and the more he understood how he was making a difference- one toss at a time.
Seeking ways to weather the storm of our changing health care climate, I was inspired to become a tosser of starfish as well - and so Starfish Health begins.
